  Called for an estimate to blast my 1967 chevy step side truck I’m restoring. Owner said he wanted to look at it. After 2 missed days he showed up to look at the truck on 3rd day. I showed him the parts ( I already had the body disassembled and bare frame ready to go). He looked at it, I answered questions and he quoted $900-$1000 to blast everything which was $500.00 cheaper then my other estimate. I did see the existing review on google but thought I could keep him in parameters with our original visit. I was very clear on what I expected.( all parts blasted with correct media down to bare metal ). We tentatively scheduled the work for Thursday but it rained. I made contact via text asking when he thought we could do work. The next day I was rebuilding the motor in my shop with the door open ( 55 degrees in mid January ) so I text him and asked if he wanted to do it that day I would have a few employees come in and set parts all up in my yard to blast. Said he would be there in hour, ( 12:30 ) showed up at 3:30. Started unloading 50 pound bags of play sand from Lowes . My research showed different media but ok, he’s the pro. He went through 10 bags in an hour with constant plugging problems. Asked if I could have my guys go pick up another 15 bags of play sand so I gave them a card and off they went. He shot half of that and it got dark. ( day 1. Did hood, part of frame ) day 2: didn’t show up until 2:30 again, said he went to Grand Rapids to buy different media, upon arrival he started shooting with glass media and it worked great for taking off paint but pitted metal bad ( 185 cfm ) blasted until dark again but didn’t finish. Day 3: showed up at 11:00 and text ahead asking how parts looked. I constantly had to remind him I needed all the paint off parts or I would be sanding forever. I would occasionally open the shop door to check progress and quality. I had him touch up almost every piece and was still not really done right. The glass was eating metal like crazy. I guess after what I expected to be 2 hours of work as quoted turned into 3 days with not so hot looking work. Forgot to recoupe or discount the sand I bought, I was just glad to get it done so to speak. Hind sight I will be sanding forever trying to smooth pits and remove remainder of paint in hidden spots. I don’t mean to bash him, he was nice enough but man, not very impressive. Just seemed like he was doing just enough to get by. Text me after I paid him saying the banks were closed so he had to cash it at some office and they may be calling me. No idea ! Never called me............ get what you pay for.
